Glowstreet Best Halloween Display Competition 2026: Terms and Conditions
Please read these terms. By rating a display, or by having a display on the map during the competition, you agree to them.
1. The promoter
1.1The promoter is POWR DATA Pty Ltd, ACN 692 119 476, ABN 37 692 119 476, Brisbane, Queensland (the promoter, we or us).
1.2The competition is called the Glowstreet Best Halloween Display Competition 2026 (the competition). It runs on glowstreet.app and the Glowstreet app, a free community map of Halloween glow spots across Australia and New Zealand.
1.3You can contact us at hello@glowstreet.app.
2. Competition period
2.1Displays are entered from the moment they are on the map (see clause 3). So when our posters and posts say "Entries open now", that is true from the time they are published.
2.2Ratings count from Sunday 25 October 2026 at 5:00pm AEST (Brisbane time). Only 5-star ratings given from that time until the close count (see clause 5).
2.3The competition closes on Saturday 31 October 2026 at 11:59pm AEST (Brisbane time). This is the close for both entries and ratings. When our posters and posts say "midnight 31 Oct 2026", they mean 11:59pm AEST on Saturday 31 October 2026.
2.4Ratings made before 5:00pm AEST on Sunday 25 October 2026 do not count. Ratings made after 11:59pm AEST on Saturday 31 October 2026 do not count either.
2.5All times are Brisbane time (AEST). Brisbane does not change for daylight saving. In Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Hobart, add 1 hour. In Adelaide, add 30 minutes. In Darwin, take off 30 minutes. In Perth, take off 2 hours. In New Zealand, add 3 hours. So ratings start counting at 6:00pm in Sydney and 8:00pm in Auckland. The competition closes at 12:59am on Sunday 1 November in Sydney and 2:59am on Sunday 1 November in Auckland.
2.6We will announce the winner on Sunday 1 November 2026.
3. Entering: which displays take part
3.1Every display (glow spot) on the Glowstreet map in Australia or New Zealand is entered automatically. There is no separate entry form and no entry fee.
3.2To enter a display that is not on the map yet, add it to Glowstreet at glowstreet.app or in the Glowstreet app. This is what our posters mean by "Add your display to GlowStreet.app to enter". You can add a display at any time before the close. It is entered as soon as it is on the map, and the normal Glowstreet rules for adding a glow spot apply (see glowstreet.app/terms).
3.3A display that was already on the map before the competition is entered too. It does not matter who added it or when, whether it is a "New glow" pin, or whether it is a decorated home, a street or an event, including at a park.
3.4Being entered early does not bring in earlier ratings. For every display, only 5-star ratings given from 5:00pm AEST on Sunday 25 October 2026 until the close count.
3.5A display cannot win if, when we work out the winner, it is an Example pin, or it has been hidden, held for review or removed from the map.
3.6A display added by a POWR DATA account, such as a director, employee, contractor or test account, cannot win.
3.7If it's your home and you want it left out of the competition, email hello@glowstreet.app with the address. Your home stays on the map, but we leave it out of the competition, its posts and the winner count. If you don't want your home on Glowstreet at all, see clause 11.
4. How it works
4.1It is free. No purchase or payment is needed.
4.2Members rate displays from 1 to 5 stars on Glowstreet. The display with the most counted 5-star ratings wins (see clause 7).
4.3To rate a display, you need a free Glowstreet account with a confirmed email address. The Glowstreet terms at glowstreet.app/terms say who can have an account.
4.4You can rate as many displays as you like, but only once each. Rate a display only if you have seen it yourself or know it first hand, and give your honest view.
4.5Sharing, tagging, liking or commenting is never needed and earns nothing.
5. Which ratings count
5.1Only 5-star ratings count toward the winner. Ratings of 1, 2, 3 or 4 stars do not count toward the winning total. 3- and 4-star ratings are used only to break a tie (clause 7.3).
5.2A 5-star rating counts only if it was made during the competition period. A rating changed to 5 stars during the period, for example from 4 stars, counts from the time it was changed.
5.3A rating must still be 5 stars when the competition closes. If it is changed to fewer stars, or cleared, before the close, it does not count.
5.4A 5-star rating made before 5:00pm AEST on Sunday 25 October 2026 does not count, even if it is still on the display or is tapped again during the period.
5.5If a 5-star rating is removed and then given again during the competition period, it counts. It is still only one rating per account per display, and it must be 5 stars when the competition closes. Clause 10 (fair play) still applies.
5.6The member who added a display can rate it. Their own rating counts in the same way as anyone else's.
5.7Each confirmed account has one rating per display. That rating counts once at most.
5.8These ratings do not count:
- ratings from accounts without a confirmed email address
- ratings from accounts that are banned or suspended
- ratings from POWR DATA's own accounts, such as staff and test accounts
- ratings from accounts that have been deleted before we work out the winner
- ratings we exclude under clause 10 (fair play).
6. The award
6.1The winning display gets a digital winner's award and bragging rights. The award is a digital winner's certificate (a graphic we send by email) and a feature on Glowstreet's social channels.
6.2There is no cash, goods or other prize of monetary value. The award cannot be exchanged for cash or anything else.
6.3The award goes to the member who added the winning display, even if it is not their home.
6.4Only one display wins.
7. Working out the winner
7.1After the competition closes, we count the 5-star ratings for each display under clause 5.
7.2The display with the most counted 5-star ratings wins. For example, 10 beats 9.
7.3If two or more displays have the same number of counted 5-star ratings, the winner is the one with the most counted 4-star ratings. If they are still tied, it is the one with the most counted 3-star ratings. If they are still tied, it is the display that reached its final winning number of 5-star ratings first. 3- and 4-star ratings are counted under the same rules as 5-star ratings in clause 5, but at their own star value.
7.4We work out the winner from Glowstreet's rating records. Before we announce, we check those records and the ratings under clause 10.
7.5During the competition we may post updates on the top 3 displays on glowstreet.app and Glowstreet's social channels. These posts may show the username of the member who added each display and the display's suburb (see clause 8.2). They will not show rating numbers.
8. Contacting and announcing the winner
8.1After we work out the winner, we will email the member who added the winning display to arrange the award. We use the email address on their Glowstreet account. When we contact the winner, we will also ask whether they are happy for us to announce their username and suburb. We will never ask anyone to pay money or share bank details.
8.2We may publish the username of the member who added a display, together with the display's suburb, in competition posts, including the top 3 updates (clause 7.5) and the winner announcement. We do not need to ask first. We publish the suburb only, never the street, house number or address. If the member asks us not to show their username, we will use the suburb only.
8.3If the winning display is not that member's home, we will ask whether they know the owner or residents.
8.4We never publish anyone's real name unless they agree. We never publish a street, house number, address, email address or anyone's rating history.
8.5We will announce the winner on Sunday 1 November 2026 on glowstreet.app and Glowstreet's social channels. The winner post will show the winning display's number of counted 5-star ratings. If the member who added the winning display has not replied by then, or tells us they don't want their username shown, we will announce the winning display by its suburb only.
9. Your information
9.1To run the competition we use Glowstreet account details (username, email address and whether it is confirmed), ratings and their history (what was rated, the stars and when), and display details. We use them to count ratings, check for gaming, contact the member who added the winning display and announce the result.
9.2We may publish the username of the member who added a display and the display's suburb (never the street or address) in competition posts, as set out in clause 8.2. This applies even though usernames are not normally shown on pins. Who rated what is never made public.
9.3Any email we send about the competition is only about the competition. We do not use your details for marketing unless you opted in separately. You can turn news emails off at any time in Profile or with the unsubscribe link in any news email.
9.4You do not have to give us any information to take part, other than what Glowstreet needs for your account.
9.5We keep competition records, such as the final count and our checks, for 3 years.
9.6Our Privacy Policy at glowstreet.app/privacy explains how to see or correct your information and how to make a complaint. You can also contact us at hello@glowstreet.app.
10. Fair play
10.1We may exclude ratings from fake, duplicate or bulk accounts, and ratings from any other gaming or manipulation.
10.2Gaming includes using more than one account, getting others to make accounts only to rate a display, swapping or trading ratings, rating places you have not seen, or using bots or scripts. Coordinating with others to push a display up or down also counts as gaming (see glowstreet.app/terms).
10.3We may exclude a display from the competition if it is fake, is not a real display, is a duplicate, or has been pushed up by gaming.
10.4We may ask the member who added a display, or the members who rated it, for more information before we decide.
10.5POWR DATA's decision on fair play is final.
11. If it's your home
11.1You can ask us to take your home off Glowstreet at any time, even during the competition. In the app, open the pin, tap Report and choose "This is my home, please don't share it". Or email hello@glowstreet.app with the address and the words "This is my home". You do not need an account.
11.2The full process is in section 10 ("If it's your home") of the Glowstreet terms at glowstreet.app/terms. If being on the map puts you or someone in your home at risk, tell us. We hide the pin as soon as we see your request and do not ask for proof.
11.3A home that is removed or hidden leaves the competition (clause 3.5). To stay on the map but leave the competition, see clause 3.7.
12. Not a game of chance
12.1The winner is worked out from members' ratings under clause 7. Luck plays no part, and there is no random draw.
12.2When our posters and posts mention a "chance to win", they mean the opportunity to win. The winner is the display with the most counted 5-star ratings given during the period in clause 2, with ties broken under clause 7.3. It is not decided by chance.
13. Changes and cancellation
13.1We may change, pause or cancel the competition only if something outside our control stops it running fairly, such as technical problems, fraud or a legal requirement.
13.2If we do, we will post a notice on this page (glowstreet.app/competition-terms).
14. Decisions
14.1Our decision on any matter about the competition is final if we have made it fairly and in good faith. This does not limit your rights under the law.
15. Platforms
15.1This competition is not sponsored, endorsed or run by Meta, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Apple or Google.
15.2To the extent the law allows, by taking part you release those companies from any claim connected with the competition.
16. Liability
16.1To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage connected with the competition. This does not apply to the extent the loss or damage is caused by our negligence or our breach of these terms.
16.2Visiting displays is covered by the Glowstreet terms at glowstreet.app/terms. Stay on public footpaths and roads and respect residents.
16.3Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law, the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and Fair Trading Act 1986, or any other law that cannot be excluded.
17. Other terms
17.1The Glowstreet terms at glowstreet.app/terms also apply to your use of your account.
17.2If there is a conflict about the competition, these terms apply first.
17.3These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. The courts of Queensland can hear any dispute, but this does not stop you using any right you have to go to a court where you live.
